The Community of Madrid is home to six public universities (in addition to the UNED, national). Of these, four have their hall or any of its faculties and schools in the city of Madrid:
-Universidad Complutense de Madrid (with its auditorium and most of its schools and colleges in the University City of Madrid).
-Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Cantoblanco its main campus and medical school in La Paz) .93
-Universidad Politécnica of Madrid (with its auditorium and some schools in the University City of Madrid and other schools in the South Campus Vallecas Montegancedo Campus (between Boadilla del Monte and Pozuelo de Alarcón) and the Campus Center, with schools in the center of Madrid (ETSI Minas, ETSI Industriales, EUIT Public Works, Industrial EUIT) .94
-Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (who even develops most of its activity in Móstoles, Alcorcón and Fuenlabrada, also has schools in the district of Vicálvaro).
Also, Madrid is home to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC), the various national academies and the National Library with its collection of historical archives.
In the district of Moncloa-Aravaca is the Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid, a neighborhood in which concentrate most of the faculties and colleges in the Complutense University and the Polytechnic. In the very center lies the Moncloa Palace, seat of the Prime Minister.
