Lázaro Galdiano Museum, located in Madrid, Spain, is a state museum, private home, which houses an encyclopedic collection formed forward to all the arts and techniques. The exceptional set, with 13,000 pieces, was assembled by the editor José Lázaro Galdiano, who when he died in 1947, he bequeathed to the Spanish State with his Madrid residence, the headquarters of his publishing modern Spain and a library of 20,000 volumes.
After Lazarus Foundation created and adapted as a museum Galdiano the former residence of the donor (Parque Florido, in the Salamanca district of Madrid), the collection was presented to the public on January 27, 1951. Since then, his reputation among connoisseurs has spread widely, and its funds are considered essential to study many aspects of art history. A collection of paintings and prints by Goya, with world-renowned pieces.
The museum was completely renovated between 2001-2004, in order to make the visit more comfortable and focused on the highest quality parts. At present (2010) is open to the public four-story, fully rejuvenated respecting the ceilings and original woodwork.
