The Museum of America is a national museum center located in Madrid (Spain). It was created on April 19, 1941 to house collections of art, archeology and ethnography American Columbian times to the colonial.
And created the museum, the collection was exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum halls until 1962 when it moved to its final location. Three years later he was officially opened. The museum remained closed between 1981 and 1994 due to renovation work.
The building, designed by architects Feduchi Luis Martinez and Luis Moya, wanted to reflect the culture that was dedicated. Chosen for this historicist style, interior organizing around a courtyard that resembles the American cloisters. Work was carried out between 1943 and 1954.
It is located on Avenue of the Catholic Monarchs and the Ministry of Culture.
