The Enrique Tierno Galván Park is located in the southeast of the city of Madrid (Spain). With 45 hectares, is one of the largest area of the city. It was started building in 1986 during the administration of Mayor which it is named and who was dedicated after his death. In addition to a plaza dedicated to him with a statue in his enclosure also houses the planetarium of the city, an outdoor auditorium and an IMAX cinema.
Location:
The park is located in the Madrid district of Arganzuela, between the old train station of Delicias Railway Museum today, and the ring road M-30. The area in which it is located is known since antiquity as the Cerro de la Plata, as opposed to the carbon deposits from steam trains leaving the stations near the Atocha and cited in Delicias. From there you can see and the shopping Vallecas Méndez Álvaro.
Activities:
The park has facilities for various sports, such as a bike lane, baloncesto courts, miniature golf courses and numerous paths you can walk peacefully admiring the surrounding flora. It also has a playground and an environmental route and has adequate access for the disabled.
In the complex there is a planetarium of Madrid, whose white domes are easily visible from afar and are the hallmark of the park, along with the IMAX cinema.
Between the park and Méndez Álvaro area is the museum of Spanish motorcycling champion Angel Nieto, distinguished by having in its front a motorcycle Derbi red with the inscription 12 1, number of championships in 50cc and 80cc motorcycle he achieved.
It also has an outdoor auditorium with an amphitheater built using a large depression in the ground. In their stands built in concrete and covered with grass has a capacity for 5,000 people.
In the eastern part of the park, next to the M-30, a set of four artificial ponds with water jets linked by small waterfalls, in which the practice model boat enthusiasts.
